JFK: Light the World Keepsake Book for General Readers.

This Keepsake coffee table book consists of a new original playscript with eighty one photos (81) of JFK, his tragic assassination, and events from that time, plus twelve (12) original Americana, traditional, and patriotic songs performed by Nashville artists. The play has a ceremonial form and includes quotations from his speeches and commentary about how his assassination impacted individual Americans, our history, culture, and politics.

John F. Kennedy: Light the World is an answer to the hate, vitriol, and acerbic division that are slowly destroying our country. As President Kennedy said, “Let us not emphasize all on which we differ but all we have in common. Let us not consider what we fear separately but what we share together.” He also said we should remember"on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof." 

JFK: Light the World for Theater Directors

A play belongs on stage, not in a book. Help me bring John F. Kennedy: Light the World to the stage. Plan your production now for 2027 as part of the 250^th anniversary year of the United States. If there's still a spot on your fall schedule for this year, 2026, consider the 63rd anniversary of JFK's assassination on November 22nd which is on Sunday this year. Any production scheduled for that day or the two or three days leading up to it will be considered Premiers. If your schedule is already set for the fall, consider Presidents' Day 2027, which is Monday, February 15th. I'm working on the idea of promoting a large group of simultaneous performances around the U.S. for February 12-13, the Friday and Saturday before Presidents' Day or February 19-20, 2027, the Friday and Saturday after. These dates may be too soon. Perhaps a Memorial day time frame would be better. If you have an opinion on this or you're interested in joining other directors to participate, leave me a note in the comments.

As a retired college Prof/Dean who directed numerous plays over the years – everything from “The Female Odd Couple” to “Antigone” -- I'm not suggesting this simultaneous performance just to sell you books or production rights to my play. I truly believe that our country is in peril because of the hatred, division, and invective in our political and popular culture. It's the main reason why I was able to complete the play after a 50 year struggle. Kennedy's civility stands in direct contrast to that kind of political culture. It's my probably naive belief that this play and the passion that theater groups around the country can bring to it will make a difference. Also, my energy is limited --  I'm 86 years old. This is my last hurrah.
